ECTC Represents at 2019 Collegiate Nationals

Today the University of Vermont suspended all events with more than 25 people until further notice and joins many other colleges and universities in moving to remote learning approaches for the remainder of the semester (due to COVID-19 concerns). In addition several of our member schools report that they are no longer allowed to travel, making an alternative tournament location unworkable in terms of participation.

With that in mind the fifth tournament of the ECTC 2019-2020 season (planned for April 18th 2020 at UVM) has been canceled.

ECTC Represents at 2019 Collegiate Nationals

Several Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) schools sent strong contingents to compete at the 44th National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships held at the University of Austin at Texas on April 20-21. For many collegiate teams, the weekend was a culmination of all the hard work and training done over the school year.  It was a chance not only to compete outside the comfort zone of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC), but also to earn points for their respective schools on a national level and take home the championship trophy.

University of Vermont Hosts the Last Tournament of the 2018-19 Season

April 7, 2019 (Burlington, VT) - On April 7th, the University of Vermont hosted the fifth and final Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) tournament of the 2018-2019 season. This tournament had 18 schools in attendance with 250 competitors. Each athlete competed hard and gave it their all throughout the day, especially the athletes whom this was their last ECTC Tournament ever.

Princeton University Hosts Largest Tournament of the Season

February 24, 2019 (Princeton, NJ) - Princeton University hosted the fourth Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) tournament of the 2018-2019 season. This tournament was the largest tournament so far, with 34 schools and 470 competitors in attendance.

ECTC All-Star Team Travels to California for Joint Training

Los Angeles, CA - (Jan. 10-13, 2019) The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference team, consisting of 10 athletes and 3 coaches, traveled to Los Angeles to train with several area schools on January 10-13, 2019. Athletes were selected by the All-Star selection committee on the basis of their competitive excellence in the league, as well as for their leadership and sportsmanship.

Brown University Hosts 3rd ECTC Tournament of the Season

November 18, 2018 (Providence, RI) - Brown University hosts 378 competitors from 27 schools in the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference’s (ECTC) third tournament of the 2018-2019 season.

Nine ECTC Athletes Represent US Team at First World University Taekwondo Festival

Muju, South Korea - (Nov. 4-8, 2018) The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) fielded nine of the 17 athletes to participate in the inaugural World University Taekwondo Festival in Muju, Korea. According to the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association (NCTA) who sponsored the team, “hundreds of athletes from multiple countries including Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Mongolia, Ghana and USA gathered to compete in both poomsae and sparring.

October 20, 2018 (Cambridge, MA) - After a long summer, the 2018-19 ECTC Competition Season kicked off with a fantastic tournament held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over 450 athletes from 34 schools participated in a day filled with fierce competition.

ECTC Hosts Season Opener with Record-Setting Numbers at MIT

November 8, 2017 (Cambridge, MA) - On Saturday, October 21, the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) came together at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the first tournament of the 2017-2018 competition season. This tournament, with a record-setting 486 competitors from 31 schools, was the largest in MIT’s history.

ECTC Hosts Last Tournament of the Season at the University of Vermont

April 22 2017 (Burlington, VT)-  The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) held its last tournament of the season at the University of Vermont (UVM) on Saturday, April 22nd 2017. The tournament was the largest attended tournament held at the school, with 298 athletes representing 19 schools. Before the day began, all of the athletes for whom this was their last ECTC tournament were asked to stand up before the league. It was a bittersweet moment as each team fully recognized that this was the last tournament that they would be competing alongside this set of extraordinary people.

ECTC Hosts Second Tournament at Cornell University

Sunday, November 6, 2016 (Ithaca, NY)- Just three weeks after holding its first tournament of the season, the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) held its second tournament at Cornell University. Un-phased by the quick turnaround, each team returned to competition in full force, as 400 athletes from 26 schools attended the tournament.

November 2, (Cambridge, MA) - The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference held its first tournament of the 2016-2017 year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday, October 15. At 466 competitors from 29 different schools, it was the largest MIT tournament to date.

On April 22nd-24th, the 41st National Collegiate Taekwondo Association Championships were held at the University of Colorado, Boulder.  For many collegiate teams, the weekend was a culmination of all the hard work and training done over the school year.  It was a chance not only to compete outside the comfort zone of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC), but also to earn points for their respective schools on a national level and take home the championship trophy.

ECTC Closes Out 2015-2016 Season at Vermont

May 4 (Albany, NY) - On Saturday, April 9, the University of Vermont hosted the fifth and final tournament of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) 2015-2016 competition season in Burlington, VT. This was the most highly attended Vermont tournament, with 282 competitors from 20 schools competing in forms (poomsae) and sparring (kyorugi). In Division I, Cornell University claimed first with 544 points and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) placed second with 313 points. In Division II...

Princeton hosts largest tournament in ECTC history

May 3 (New York, NY) - On Sunday, February 28th, ECTC athletes competed at Princeton University for the fourth tournament of the season. This tournament was the largest tournament in league history with 445 competitors from 29 schools. Special thanks to our farthest traveling schools, Virginia Tech and the University of Michigan. 2015-2016 ECTC All-Stars Training Trip

One of the unique characteristics of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference is its annual selection of an All-Star team of student-athletes, comprised of competitors from the league’s member schools. This tradition began in 2001-2002, with a team of students who traveled to train in Puerto Rico, and has continued annually to make this 2015-2016 group the 15th ECTC All-Star Team. This year’s team traveled to train in Los Angeles, California from January 14th to January 16th. Masters Dan Chuang and Rex Hatfield accompanied the team as ECTC coaches and representatives.

ECTC Athletes Compete at Third Season Tournament at Brown

December 1 (Fairfax, VA) – On Sunday, November 22, the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) held the third tournament of its competition season and the last tournament of 2015 at Brown University in Providence, RI. This edition of the Brown University tournament was yet another in a series of well attended and successfully run ECTC tournaments, boasting 371 student athletes from 23 Universities.

ECTC Athletes Excel at Second Season Tournament at Cornell

November 12 (Cambridge, MA) - On Sunday, November 8, the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC) held the second tournament of its competition season at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. 371 student athletes from 25 schools competed in forms (poomsae) and sparring (kyorugi). This was one of the most highly attended Cornell tournaments in recent history, with similar numbers last being seen in 2011.

November 10, 2015 (Cambridge, MA) -- The Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference (ECTC, http://ectc-online.org) held its first tournament of the season at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The tournament was one of the largest in recent conference history, with 425 collegiate competitors from 23 different schools participating in the categories of forms (poomsae) and sparring (kyorugi).

ECTC successful at 40th NCTA Championships

The NCTA hosted the 40th NCTA Championships on April 4-5, 2015, at the University of Delaware. The ECTC had a strong showing, sweeping the Overall Division.  

 

Congratulations to competitors from the ECTC who earned a spot on this year's US Collegiate Team. The NCTA Championships served as team trials for both poomsae and sparring. Team members competed at the Summer World University Games in Gwangju, Korea from July 3-14, 2015, a G-2 sparring event.
